Process control systems for silos and product conveyance in a polyethylene plant
Stadler+Schaaf supplied the complete process control equipment for silos and product conveyance as part of a plant for the production of polyethylene in Saudi Arabia, which was built as a turnkey project by a well-known plant construction company.
Scope of supplies and services
The contract included the detail engineering, programming, supply and commissioning of the PCS7 process control system for the conveyor and silo units with a total of around 9,000 IO signals, 13 automation stations with a high degree of availability and two redundant process data servers, as well as the detail engineering, construction, supply and commissioning of the signal conditioning and marshalling rack cabinets.
Special features
Implementation of extensive conveyor path matrices, linking to the higher level control system, as well as vibration monitoring systems via Modbus, project-specific control libraries.
Project duration
This project was completed in a period of around 24 months, with approximately 12,000 hours of engineering in total.
